Ecotoxicology studies

icon Ecotoxicology

In order to meet the increasing demand from our clients related to the environmental requirements dictated by the European regulations, Staphyt has developed a specialized bee-keeping department to set up any type of study on bee (Apis mellifera), bumblebees (Bombus terrestris) and other beneficials, in the fields, under insect proof shelters and in laboratory as well. This activity is GLP officially recognized for the 4 and 7 areas *.
We are also able to set up residue studies in bee-keeping matrix (pollen, nectar, honey, wax, “bee bread”, flowers and foraging bees).

Field trials are conducted according to CEB, EPPO or OECD methods depending on clients’ demand; it is also possible to define specific protocols.

You need

  • To support insecticide registration and get the 1, 2 or 3 “bee mention”
  • Evaluate the safety or the toxicity of your products/active ingredients on bees, bumblebees,
    beneficials and other arthropods
  • Secure insecticide users

Our expertise

  • Agrochemical toxicity studies under coverwith assessments of the insect behaviour in each plot (independent tunnels)
  • Re-entry studies (effects and deadlines)
  • Sampling and studies on hive-related products (pollen, nectar, honey, wax, “bee bread”)
  • Larva studies in laboratory
  • Large plot studies with attractive crop possibilities
  • Glasshouse studies on pollinating insects (Bombus type)

*Area 4: Toxicity study of pesticides on bee brood under laboratory conditions. Artificial rearing of bee larvae under controlled conditions.

*Area 7: Study of the side effects of pesticides on auxiliary fauna, on bees and apicultural products.
