At Staphyt Australasia, GLP is one of our flagship services to clients and industry, offering residue-focused project solutions across both Australia and NZ. Staphyt has announced that this dynamic and experienced team will be led by Lead Study Director Tara Simmul.
Tara, based at our Devonport facility, Tasmania, comes from a rural and farming background and brings a keen interest in nature and farming. Over the last 30+ years, Tara says she has been lucky to be able to work closely with her interests. Her career has spanned from a jillaroo on a sheep and cattle property, developing businesses of her own, and a ChemCert instructor as well as working in different aspects of agriculture, including vegetable research, broadacre cropping, horticulture research, forestry research and a PhD focused on entomology.
“I had worked for Staphyt (then Peracto) about 20 years previously in Western Australia. So, when the opportunity came up to take on a role in Tasmania it seemed like a good fit for where I was at in my life” says Tara.
As Lead Study Director, Tara is keen on “being part of a global network involved with product development which ultimately supports growers and consumers”. “There are many interesting challenges, and it is very satisfying when problems are solved, projects are completed on time, and Sponsors are happy”. “I’m also lucky to be working with a great group of people who have a positive ‘can-do attitude.”
“Transitioning to the Lead Study Director from an agricultural background was reasonably easy”. “The hardest thing was probably being in front of a computer all day – for the first time in my life”. “Every day there are new challenges, and it is never boring”.
Australasian Business Unit Director, Bruno Maurer says that with her energetic way to get things solved, Tara is the born leader of our GLP Team and has the right colleagues around her. Tara and her Study Director’s do a maximum effort to get the job done in time. Tara is highly professional, but very passionate, even in difficult moments, with a smile on her face and always goes the “extra mile” for good quality to achieve timeliness!
Because of her extensive experience in R&D across Australia, Tara has a strong field background and is also an ideal trainer for our young Technical Officers.
We hope you look forward to working with Tara as much as we do.
