The Covid-19 pandemic has been a steep learning curve for our business in New Zealand just like it has been for many businesses around the world. Although heading straight into level 2 restrictions in March and quickly escalating to level 4, we were able to continue to operate in the essential agricultural sector but with strict and quickly developed COVID-19 policies. Strict office limits were implemented, working from home was prioritised and social distancing throughout trial work was imperative.
It has been full steam ahead working out of our three regional locations, Pukekohe, Hastings and Ashburton (including trips down to Southland) All current trials were maintained and completed in potatoes, kiwifruit, forage brassica, vegetable (Pukekohe), grape and apple (Hawkes Bay), forage and cereal trials (Ashburton).
New ways of adapting our services to clients were required such as trial visits. As client trial visits could not happen in person we captured photos and videos of trials to keep them updated. This new concept will be a very important tool moving forward in a world with reduced air travel and a priority on remote working.
