IUPAC 2019 – Dislodgeable Foliar Residue (DFR) studies

A significant element of Staphyt’s and APC’s participation in IUPAC/ECPA 2019 was the educational scientific content of our presentations.

Charles Henry Roussel, one of Staphyt’s leading Technical Managers, outlined the current guidelines and approaches to Dislodgeable Foliar Residue (DFR) studies, which look at the residue of a pesticide on foliage/fruit, over time, following application. The studies evaluate the risk of transfer to workers through contact with the foliage/fruit.

When sampling, a key problem is to determine the total leaf surface sampled and various methods currently exist for the measurement of this. Some of these methods are very time-consuming and create other difficulties. However there are answers to these problems.
